Falls are the leading cause of injury for adults over 65, with one in four older adults reporting a fall each year. The Otago Exercise Program is an evidence-based series of strength and balance exercises proven to reduce falls by up to 35%! Otago includes two eight-week sessions with two classes per week, featuring 17 strength and balance exercises to improve stability and well-being. Participants complete a brief fall risk assessment before and after the program to track progress and guide improvement.
Learn about this effective program designed to help older adults stay active and prevent falls. During this informational session, Kari McCory, certified Otago instructor, will explain how the program works, who can benefit, and how it can be incorporated into daily routines to improve mobility, confidence, and independence.
Kari is a physical therapist assistant who has been teaching group Otago for 2 ½ years. She is also a certified personal trainer. She loves helping people improve their mobility so that they can continue to lead an active and independent lifestyle. In her off time she enjoys reading, spending time with friends and playing soccer.
