About this event
In our continued collaboration with Era Living Ida Culver Ravenna and the Northwest Center for Creative Aging (NWCCA), NEST is excited to kick off our Creative Aging series for 2023 with our guest presenter, Denise Malm.
Join Denise Malm, Social Worker and Geriatric Mental Health specialist to learn about how Personal Safety Nets offers ideas and practices to counteract the increasing ‘Epidemic’ of Loneliness and Isolation in our society. The evolution of this concept, developed in 2007 by Judy Pigott and Dr. John Gibson, offers brings creative ways to develop supportive and meaningful relationships. Learn how the new PSN can increase connections—improving health and well-being as we age.
Denise Malm, LSWAIC, GMHS serves as a social worker at the Wallingford Community Center. As a geriatric mental health specialist, Denise is trained to holistically assess and incorporate the complex physical and behavioral health conditions faced by each individual in her care. Denise provides a multitude of services whichinclude assessing dementia and delirium, evidence-based interventions for depression, facilitating discussions of end of life wishes, and working with adult children to plan and create a safety net for their aging parents.
